Road Trip: Eastern Sierra, Trip 1, Part 5: Virginia Lakes / May 2020
A few miles north of Mono Lake, and off the highway, a short detour actually - we find Virginia Lakes. Elevation almost 10,000' (and upwards!) As you can
see, a bit chilly here, lots of snow, AND.... the lake is ENTIRELY
frozen over. So much so, people take their cross country skis to hike
across the like and then into the back country. Though we couldn't participate in a hike in these conditions - hell I was wearing shorts, a short sleeved shirt and a thin hoodie - the experience was certainly noteworthy. Hopefully we'll get more than a chilly reception next time.
