Hike: Eastern Sierra, Trip 2, Part 3: Kearsarge Pass to Flower Lake / May 2020
First there was the breathtaking drive to Onion Valley... heading into the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains. Destination: the Kearsarge Pass trailhead, for a hike to Flower Lake, then back the way we came up. You can see snow-covered crags and
spiraling peaks in the distance, including granite ridges and tree-free
mountains, some over 12,000'. This is one of the gateways to the deep Sierra Nevada Mountains, where trails lead to Mt. Whitney, the John Muir trail, the High Sierra Trail, the High Sierra, and more.
Length: 4.3 miles / Elevation gain: 1,332' /
Highest Elevation Point: 10,601'.
This blog chronicles my travels - mostly around my home state of California - but on rare occasions, other areas as well. Hopefully, these photos capture the majesty, grandeur, and breathtaking beauty of the landscapes I’ve witnessed firsthand on these trips over the last few years. Luckily, for me, it really doesn’t take much to heed the call of nature, to pull me from the comforts of home and to prepare for another grand adventure. So buckle up, plug in and strap in - we’re going for a ride.
