Hike: Eastern Sierra, Trip 1, Part 3: Gables Lake trail / May 2020

Hike: Eastern Sierra, Trip 1, Part 3: Gables Lake trail / May 2020

A bit north west of Bishop, at the end of Pine Creek Road - with the massive Mt. Tom shadowing you to your south, there are a number of hikes here that climb into the Sierras. Picking up the trail from the trailhead, alas, couldn't complete the hike - rain started falling, snowpack started building up in the higher elevations, fog rolling in and the dark of nightfall only hours away. Definitely worth a return to hit the summit, as this is a strenuous day hike.

Length: 7.7 (only did about 3) miles / Elevation gain: 3,277' (only went up about 1000') / Highest Elevation Point: 10,941'.
